GMP

Where do you start to dissect the views expressed by British cops in The Secret Policeman, a documentary that was shown on BBC? The “revelation” that there are many many racists in the GMP will shock no one. But there were a couple of thought provoking and down right scary truths.

One is that racists when they are dissatisfied in the real world and with their jobs are flocking to join the police because it gives them the chance to, “get their own back.”

Another eye opener was how deeply rooted the racist disease was. To get a police trainer standing up in an OFFICIAL training session and say that Stephen Lawrence was probably a drug dealer or mugger who was rightly beaten up by a bunch of white guys for being in the wrong neighbourhood and then to go on and call Mr and Mrs Lawrence, “spongers” made me stand up and shake my head in disbelief. If that was what a senior trainer in a police academy could say in broad daylight in front of a class then I do not even want to know what goes on behind closed doors.

It is good to see that the closet psychopath, Home Secretary David Blunkett, has finally stopped attacking the BBC for commissioning and airing the documentary, and has stopped criticising the undercover techniques used in the programme, does he seriously think someone could walk in and say, “Hi am from the BBC will you please line up and tell me why you feel Hitler has the right idea but the wrong targets?” and end up with a result? Clown. About time they got angry with the racist cops instead of blaming the BBC.

Africa Confidential

After my rant against the New African it is only fair that I point out a group of people who are doing it right.

Africa Confidential is a a top quality newletter on African affairs. Check out the website and order your free copy. If your looking for a glossy magazine well laid out with beautiful pictures then AC is not for you. But if you want hard hitting news and commentary on Africa and don’t mind the fact that it is printed on paper most recycling plants would reject as beyond hope, jump on board.

I just hope that the libel cases started by Saudi businessmen do not bankrupt it.

RWC

Just thought I’d make it official. England is going to kick some Springbok ass today. But springbok fans have no fear because the Boks are going to kick some All Blacks ass in the quarter finals. The Boks will then be beaten by the Aussies in the semis, leading to a England -v- Aussie final which England will win.
This is World Cup Rugby 2003.

kua serious

Transparency International have release their annual Corruption Perceptions Index . As usual Kenya is right there amongst the most corrupt. In fact the only countries deemed more corrupt then Kenya are Indonesia, Angola, Azerbaijan, Cameroon, Georgia, Tajikistan, Myanmar, Paraguay, Haiti, Nigeria and Bangladesh.

Countries which are seen as less corrupt than Kenya include:

Zimbabwe: Robert Mugabe - nuff said.

Uganda: where the army is busy waging war in Congo for diamonds, where the president uses his official jet and $90,000 of public money to fly his daughter to Germany to give birth.

Tanzania: where the government spent spent $40 million on a military air control system when the country doesn’t even have an air force and then justified it by saying they would use it to “monitor elephants in the Serengeti”.

UK: where the government encouraged BAE Systems to set up a £20 million slush fund to bribe their way into contracts.

USA: where the Vice President hooks up his buddies with fat contracts in Iraq.

France: where the president would be in jail if he did not have the immunity that comes with being president.

Italy: Silvio Burlusconi - nuff said.

Let’s not even start on Russia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sudan, Congo, Spain, Ethiopia, etc etc.

No doubt Kenya does have a chronic corruption problem, but the 10th most corrupt country? Oh please.

HIV = GBH

Having sex when you know you are HIV positive without warning the other person is the equivalent to knocking them down with a heavy iron bar. Grievous bodily harm.

no names

No naming names but damn, I hope its not who I’ve heard it is. Don’t get me wrong, you do the crime, you do the time. But damn I hope it’s not them, in fact it better not be them.

But if I did name them here they wouldn’t shut little innocent me down would they? hmmm!
