autumn rugby internationals
Friday, November 4th, 2005 at 10:15 PM
The best thing about the first weekend in November is the autumn rugby internationals. France v Australia should be interesting but Wales v New Zealand is the big one. The champions of north v the champions of south is all ready a massive but thrown in all the ill will from the Lions tour and you have an explosive fixture. On top of all that the All Blacks might unleash their new haka “Kapa O Pango” instead of the original “Ka Mate”. The Welsh RFU have pulled a fast one though. The All Blacks will perform the haka between the national anthems after the New Zealand anthem but before the Welsh anthem.
The Mighty Reds of Anfield, Champions of Europe, kick of at 12.45 and the rugby kicks of at 16.00 and I’m meant to travel to London. In short a logistical nightmare. I could leave very early or pretty late. The people who suggested I miss one of the matches clearly weren’t thinking straight.
Edit:
Download videos of the haka:
New haka:Kapa O Pango
Original haka:Ka Mate

It would be great to get those games - unfortunately I don’t have the right TV package to get them here… such is life.
Is there any video footage of this new Haka? I’d love to see it.

One of the most moving pieces of cinema I’ve ever seen was a film called “Murderball”, which tells the story of Quadreplegic Rugby, played by guys who are confined to wheelchairs. In the opening of the film, we see some of the teams around the world. The New Zealand team began their matches with a wheelchair version of the haka. It brought tears to my eyes… and my wife didn’t get it at all, having never seen the All Blacks play…

I think i prefer the older one … You lucky devil. I can’t think of a single sport in Kenya not plagued by wrangles or mismanagement to go and watch!

Boss it is next to impossible to get tickets for rugby internationals. Tickets for next years November internationals are probably all ready sold out. I’ve only been to Twickenham twice (not counting 7s) and both times i just jipoxed on some people who all ready had tickets.
i’m thinking a KBW rugby team but we seem to have 15 forwards and no backs!

Its been a long while since I watched a rugby game, or played the game, I thank you for tha info. Personally I think the new one is more intimidating - though Tana makes anything look so - I like the end when they slit their throats, brilliant I say

My sons, if you thought you could collude, plot, manoeuvre, strategize and scheme behind my back you are grossly mistaken!
Positions once given are not exchangable!

Mental,
Thanks for the Kapa O Pango Haka. I still prefer the old Ka Mate Haka. Maybe I am just used to it.
