Time will fly. The deadlines will be quite close!
KSH 20.06 is the prize this year because we are in 2006. Next year the prize will be KSH 20.07
Most blog awards follow this format. It is a token gesture. The real prize is winning!

Ms K
I’d never have figured out that 20.06 = 2006!! That’s quite clever. Ebu pat yourself on the back!!
How many times can I nominate myself LOL?
March 27, 2006 at 5:01 pm
Mentalacrobatics
You can nominate your own blog up to six times.
off to pat myself on the back…

You didn’t mention something about who will tally up the votes and additionally, if it is KBW Administrators, can they also vote for their blogs? I realize this may be irrelevant to some but it might be good follow up. MsK beat me to the self-nomination Q. OK..so I already have 6 votes in the bag!!!..:)
Also for categories, we should’ve had ‘Post of the Year’

The awards are administered by KBW admin. This means the admin will be responsible for collecting nominations, publishing nominations, collecting votes, counting votes and publishing the results.
All members of KBW are allowed and indeed encouraged to take part in the awards. This includes the admin. Just like everyone else admin members can nominate their own blogs a maximum of six times. Just like everyone else admin members can vote for their own blog.
In short admin members can take a full part in the awards just as any other member.
As mentioned in the post detailed information on the nomination process can be found on the awards webpage.

LOL I didnt connect 20.06 with 2006 - quite clever.
Off to nominate some people - lol this could turn interesting.
Btw - will the process be blogged or are we just gonna nominate, choose the nominee from the shortlist, and then go away till the results? Will we have a continuous tally or something?

We shall issue general updates throughout the process. For example:
50 nominations in total received so far.
Once the voting starts we will again issue general updates. For example:
100 votes in total received so far.
What we will not be doing is issuing any detailed specific updates. For example:
In category 1 Blog A currently has 20 votes.
We will not be doing that as it spoils the surprise and spoils the suspense.
(It may also influence votes)

Great stuff, I’ll get my nominations in today.
I wish this was open to for people to vote outside of KBW members. Reasoning: by going outside it will be a bring more people in due to everyone “marketing” their own blog (or their friend’s blog). The South African crew did that and I found a lot of blogs I didn’t know about because of it. I think it helps build awareness of Kenyan blogs.
Regardless of that, this is going to be fun! Thanks for taking the time to put it togethe.

You can nominate blogs that are outside KBW. So long as they are Kenyan blogs. The only part of the award process restricted to KBW members is the voting.

Girlie
It would have been nice to at least get a general list of the short listed nominations. That will save newbees to the blogsphere like myself having to go through the 170+ blogs in the ring in order to participate.
For the time being I’ll just sit on the sidelines and watch. Thanks for stopping by mine….

@Girlie - the full process is democratic. That is the short list will be created by the blogs that receive the most nominations. You will be able to see this list once the nomination period is over.
@Kidada – only registered, active members of KBW can vote. As your blog is not registered on KBW, you can not vote. However you can submit your nominations.

I nominate the kbw administrators to write the Kenya constitution.
Why?
1. Came up with an idea
2. Figured out how to do it
3. Implemented it
4. Incorporated the madness of a 100 (and growing) voices
5. And STILL remain popular, every single one!
Much better than our esteemed leaders can manage
(okay, I’m kissing ass, but I’m also very serious. Y’all are doing an amazing job! Write our damned constitution. I’ll follow it, except for the parts I don’t like, like the rules!)

Must I submit nominations in all categories or can I sit out on some and then submit 5 per the categories I have enough blog knowledge/visits to nominate?
e.g. if i dont regularly read non-english blogs can I pass on nominating for that category?
March 30, 2006 at 11:07 am
Mentalacrobatics
The maximum number of nominations per category is three. We ask however that you try to nominate at least 5 different blogs in total. You do not have to submit nominations in each category.
