Well finally here is my Valentine’s Day message decoded. It was not that hard. The key was obvious really, mainly because I gave it to you in the very first line of the post. Like I said the code relied on simple substitution theory, where one letter simply replaces another. So
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
VWXYZABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTU
When you come across A replace that with V when you see B replace that with W and so on. I started with V because it was a Valentine’s Day message. (You see I think these things through!) Without further ado, here is the message decrypted:
My! Aren’t you a clever one? Happy Valentine’s Day with a slight twist.
You didn’t think that your hard work for the day was done did you?
I have copied below a verse from a certain uplifting song. The kind of song that puts a smile on your face whether you are a fan of Valentine’s Day or not.
Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to leave a comment to this post which consists solely of another line from that same song. (Of course put your name and blog as usual so I can tell who you are).
You can choose any line from the song to put in your comment except a line from the verse below.
That’s straightforward enough isn’t it!
Ok here is the verse:The colours of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shakin’ hands, sayin’ “how do you do?”
They’re really saying “I love you”
The verse is from the timeless Louis Armstrong classic hit “What a Wonderful World” written by Bob Thiele, George David Weiss and George Douglas.
Congratulations to Mutumia, Low Fidelity and Spicebear who all cracked the code, and especially to Mutumia who cracked it first.
