Eldoret, ladies and gentlemen, things are very very bad in Eldoret. Homes being raided. Churches being burnt. Shops being looted. Murder and rape in broad daylight. Ethnic groups after each other. Let me tell you this is much much bigger than Kikuyu –v- Luo.

I’m not violent in nature I have to say that at the line where he says he was pressured by phone calls from PNU/ODM-K I want to do something drastic to him!

I have lost all respect and confidence in Bw. Kalonzo, with ODM-K’s repeated demands for results by phone, I see that he’s turned out to be an opportunist with himself rather than the nation at heart.
As for Kivuitu,we had so much faith in his supposed sense of fairness and ability to stand up to intimidation that it is a difficult fact to swallow that our trust was so terribly misplaced.

The ECK guys are now coming out to say that there were some irregularities cos the International community is talking. They thought that this was going to be swept under the carpet but guess what? We want their asses smoked cos they have alot of blood in their hand. Kivuitu now turns around and says he was under pressure – I call this crap, he’s a very sacred old man now…he’ll answer lots of questions when order is restored. There’s no pressure one can’t say no to. Kivuitu, its too late to tell mothers, fathers, sisters brothers, sons and daughters that u were under pressure. Have u lost anyone in the mayhem? I bet not.

I am not about to label Kivuitu and Co as the “heros of the struggle” however, I think it’s a tad commendable that they are speaking up and pointing fingers, it’s a huge departure from the past where chicannery galore of this type, was swept under the carpet and questions left unanswered. Their statements ultimately, lend some credibility to ODM claims that some vicious irregularities took place (not that I am doubting them).
In the light of recent developments, I hope that ODM protests will not be limited to peaceful demonstrations but will also extend to instigating legal proceedings. Maybe the evidence held by the disgraced ECK officials may just be the necessary ammuniation required to oust this rogue regime.

This is why Raila should not heed the call to concede defeat. We need to know the truth and the more pressure is applied, the more truth will come out. Raila should not give in to demands and he should not compromise his position. There should be no negotiations until Kibaki steps down. Shame on Kivuitu. Ati “I do not know whether Kibaki won the election.” Then why the hell did you declare him president? Useless people without principles…aarrggghhhh!!!!

NB: I will not use the tribal word “Kikuyus” because i believe this is merely the third language spoken by these people. Colonial tribal divisions does not define our ethnicity in 2008.
We are so integrated today our tribe is “kenya” and our first language is “sheng” [swa], second is english. Most of us cannot find our “home districts” on a map let alone of the ground!

thanks for the updates, we are counting on them. Democracy is not an easy road but one man can’t keep democracy from being realized in Kenya. I believe at the end of the day Kibaki’s government will be defeated and the Kenyan’s will get the change they voted for and they deserve. I am glad to see that kenyans no longer allow themselves to be taken advantage of….unfortunately, like in past experiences, violence is the only option left for people whose honor and dignity has been taken away from them. I believe Kenya will go through some very tough times, but thank God for democracy – it is worth the fight! viva Africa!

Raila should not concede in the name of being “the bigger man”, the unravelling events are bigger than Raila, alot of hopes and dreams were vested in those innumerable votes cast in his favour. I do not in any way condone the heinous actions of those causing great harm to others, however it is foolish to argue that the rampaging masses are doing so with only Raila in mind. What we are witnessing is the rage of a deeply wounded section of the electrolate, the pent up frustrations of those striving to drag themselves out of a raging inferno but are being forcibly dragged back. An electrolate that has had to put up with all manner of nonsense in the last 5 years, patiently waiting for that moment when they would unleash their voice to say “ENOUGH ALREADY! Just for it to be silenced, in the name of Raila must cast himself as the bigger man? No! it is not about the bigger or smaller man. It is about a collection of small men, the wananchi striving to secure fundamental change.
Kibaki’s actions have left a scar on the collective psyche of the Nation, his actions have striped him of any moral authority, if he goes unchallenged, we will have opened up a pandora’s box, wananchi both ‘big’ and ‘small’ will never ever again respect any form of authority at all. If we allow for this chiccanery to take route and flourish for 5 years, we will be living a lie, future generations will deride us for having lived a lie.

there is a you tube video of Kivuitu talking about the phone calls that he was getting. Of course the story is also carried on the Standard website but just listen to him. Also, is it correct for the law police to use live bullets on these people? CNN website reports Ruto saying if teargas doesnt work, we will use live bullets. Isn’t that a little too drastic, how about teargas to rubber bullets first?
