We get to spank Chelski and give Maureen nightmares all over again. In fact we should lose to Anderlecht on purpose just so we can dump CSKA London in the UEFA cup! Hehehe!

Punishments include:

1. In the first instance: Having to watch a full Arsenal champion’s league match (where, as has become an annual tradition, some nobody team will etch out a boring 1 – 1 draw at Highbury)
2. If you continue offending: having to listen to that cd of Russian folk music that they play at every Chelski home game, or maybe even having to sit in on one of Maureen’s press conferences.
3. And if I’m really angry your punishment will consist of the most horrible fate ever known to befall man. That is you will be forced to become a season ticket holder at the Manchester Buccaneers.

Just what the hell went wrong this season? 5th in the flipping table, no Champions’ League next season. Bollox. Well the good that will come out of this is that it is now so painfully obvious that our ability to break down opposition defences is limited to say the best and that we need some dynamic leadership in the heart of midfield that Houllier will have to act. In a sense we are a victim of our own success. 5 trophies in one season, Champions’ League quarter finalists we moved up so fast so quickly that people expect Gerrad and Murphy to perform at Zidane, Viera and Keane levels game in and game out while realistically they are still climbing the learning curve. It is easy to forget that this is a very young team with a very young heart. Sometimes it helps to learn a lesson the hard way, this season has been just that. Remember how Shaq and the magic got swept by Hakeem the Dream and the Rockets NBA finals? The man came back stronger, and is going for ring number 4. We will be back no doubt. Next seasons tape will be called, The Revenge of Liverpool. As of now, well we lick our wounds, argue over each member of the squad and count the days till next season begins. The last time we finished 5th in the league (1980/81) we went on to win the title the following season.
